Benjamin Lay was discussed on the EA forum (and Will MacAskill was pretty enthusiastic about the Quakers in general in What We Owe the Future), EACH has a classic blog about Wesley's proto-earning-to-give, and Wilberforce will be discussed in the upcoming book by EACH – but I'm grateful to Nick for presenting these guys side by side, really inspirational and helps draw out the pattern.
An interesting side note is that in the 19th century, both evangelical Christians and utiltiarians advocated for the end of slavery and against vivisection. I wonder if there were more common causes and whether we could have something similar today.
